𝑭𝒓𝒊𝒅𝒂𝒚 1𝒔𝒕 𝑺𝒆𝒑𝒕𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓 2023, 𝑴𝒖𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒂.

Today marked a pivotal moment in our collective pursuit of improved water supply and sanitation services in Murang’a County. Under the visionary leadership of our esteemed Board Chairperson, Mr. Charles Karondo, and in the presence of key stakeholders including Board member Eng. James Wainaina and Water Service Providers MDs, we embarked on an thorough inspection tour of water and sanitation projects in the county.

These initiatives symbolize our commitment to enhancing the quality of life for all Murang’a residents, and we are immensely proud to share our progress with you.

The team inspected the following key projects:

1. 𝐆𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐨 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭: We commenced our inspection by visiting the completed and fully operational Gatango Water Supply Project. This undertaking involved the construction of an intake, water distribution pipeline, and storage tank. The completion of this project signifies a significant step towards providing clean and reliable water to our communities.

2. 𝐆𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐨 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧: In our quest to expand access to clean water, we also inspected the extension works for the Gatango Community Water Supply Project. This phase involves the construction of a 22-kilometer pipeline from Kairo Tank to Gakurwe Tank, furthering our reach and impact.

3. 𝐌𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠’𝐚 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭: We proudly examined the progress of the Murang’a Community Water Supply Project, encompassing the construction of the Gakurwe to Kiambugi water pipeline, which has been successfully completed. Additionally, the Augmentation of Murang’a Community Water Supply Project is underway, with plans to lay an additional 10 kilometers of water pipeline network from Kiambugi Tank to Mahuani and Wangaita areas.

4. 𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐥 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐮𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐨 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐞𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭: Our journey of transformation extended to the Kenol Makutano Water Supply and Sewerage Project, strategically aimed at increasing water supply and sewerage coverage for Kenol, Kabati, and other parts of Murang’a. This comprehensive initiative includes the construction of 194 kilometers of water pipelines, along with last-mile connections in Murang’a North, Murang’a South, and Gatanga areas. Furthermore, the project encompasses the establishment of ten tanks with a storage capacity of 250,000 liters at various locations, ensuring consistent access to clean water.

The sewerage component of this project is equally ambitious, involving the construction of trunk and reticulation sewers, a wastewater treatment plant, and an ablution block serving Kangari Market, soon to be relocated to Sabasaba Market. This phase also includes the provision of over 1000 household sewer connections, thereby improving sanitation for countless residents.

5. 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲: Our inspection tour culminated with the Augmentation of Ithanga Water Supply, situated in the eastern fringes of Gatanga sub-county. This project comprises the construction of an intake, raw water pipelines, a full chemical water treatment plant, treated water pipelines, a gravity and pumped pipeline system, water storage tanks, a pumping station, and last-mile connectivity. It is a testament to our unwavering commitment to delivering reliable and clean water to every corner of Muranga county.
