Leading the Way in Environmental Conservation

On Friday 3rd May 2024 Murang’a County,  Athi Water Works Development Agency, in collaboration with other dedicated partners, took another significant step towards a greener, more sustainable future. We are thrilled to announce the successful planting of 10,000 mixed indigenous tree species in Kimakia Forest, marking a vital contribution to the forest’s rehabilitation efforts.
As these trees take root and flourish, they symbolize our commitment to preserving our natural ecosystem. Kimakia Forest, a crucial water catchment site, plays a pivotal role in supplying water to the communities of Nairobi, Kiambu, and Murang’a counties. By enhancing biodiversity and restoring ecosystems, we ensure our water sources’ long-term sustainability.
Today’s achievements were made possible thanks to the generous support of our esteemed partners, including Norken International Ltd, Cooperative Bank, WRUA’s, RODI Kenya and the local community. Their invaluable contributions have been instrumental in realizing AWWDA’s vision of fostering a world where nature thrives, and clean water flows freely for all.
